There was no grand plan to become plant collectors. In the beginning, there was mostly curiosity—and a history of plants that did not always survive.

Then one plant behaved differently. It stayed alive, adapted, grew and became more beautiful than expected. That small success changed the way we thought about growing.

Instead of assuming we were bad at plants, we started asking a different question: what if the plant simply was not right for the person or the place?
